Sovereign of the Seas Ship Model

Sovereign of the Seas was built as a prestige warship after a meeting in 1634 at Woolwich Dockyard between King Charles I and the Master Shipwright, Phineas Pett. As the name might imply, the HMS Sovereign of the Seas was instrumental to the development of the Royal Navy. Designed as a means of improving the strength of the English crown, this is one of the most aesthetically pleasing ships of the 1600s. About the Sovereign of the Seas

As one of the most important ships of its time, the HMS Sovereign of the Seas is of immense historical importance. She was built as a prestige warship after a meeting in 1634 at Woolwich Dockyard between King Charles I and the Master Shipwright, Phineas Pett. It first launched out from Woolwich in 1637, and since then she was about to make a major mark on the world of naval transport.

The ship itself was the predecessor to Nelson’s Victory, and was a major part of the navy at the time. The fact she was just the second three-decked first-rate ship to be built, too, made her even more important to naval development. Indeed, she was part of the innovation that eventually led to an entire ship deck alone just for firepower to be stored.

In terms of achievement, the Sovereign of the Seas is one of the most decorated ships of its – or any – era. It was though, not without consequence: the £65,000+ needed to build it eventually led to the start of the English Civil War. With over 100 bronze cannons aboard, though, the ship was very much worth the investment from a military perspective.

She was the single most powerful ship on the seas at the time of its development, and served as one of its most weighted ships also. Indeed, she was one of the heaviest in the world, until the Prince Royal came along.

For many, though, the impressive nature of the Sovereign of the Seas means that, for many, it was spoken about in truly hushed tones.

Shipping & Delivery

We do not offer Free Shipping. It’s important to note that due to ordering from some specific suppliers, our delivery times may vary slightly between products. Since we don’t hold stock ourselves, we do rely on third parties. Occasionally they make mistakes meaning a product we thought was in stock may have just run out — in which case we’ll let you know just as soon as we can and explain your options.

Also, the delivery times are our best estimates only. Many things can delay your order, including freight delays, bad weather, customer location and the local post/courier service. If we do know there is a delay, we’ll email you as soon as we can with the updated delivery time.

If your order is in stock and we process the charges to your credit card, it will ship within five business days from the date of your order.  We will send you tracking information within 24 hours of your order leaving the warehouse to the e-mail address your provide when checking out.  If you do not receive tracking information from us within six business days of your order, feel free to follow up with us.

All items dispatched via courier have an implicit 'Authority to Leave' at the customers'  shipping address, unless the customer has indicated otherwise at the time of ordering.

Most commercial courier and postal companies we use to send customers' packages will in most instance leave your parcel at the property / address indicated on the order, in a safe, concealed location if it hasn't already been accepted by a resident. At times certain courier drivers may leave a note for the customer with a contact number to call and organise a suitable time for re-delivery or an address of the depot where the package will be left in order for the customer to pick up, if the driver could not find a safe concealed location at the property. This is at the discretion of the courier driver.

In cases where the customers' package/parcel is left at the collection depot and the customer has not picked it up by the due date indicated or the customer has not organised a suitable time for re-delivery, the default course of action is for the item to be sent back to the sender. If this occurs, all returned packages, will be subject to a 20% (of item price) restocking fee. Any subsequent re-shipping charges will also be borne by the customer.

So while we do our best to make sure your order arrives in full and on time, if you absolutely need something guaranteed to arrive on time, like your partner’s wedding anniversary gift, then we recommend you allow yourself enough time before placing an order.

We reserve the right to amend or add to these Terms & Conditions.
